Paleo diet is an integrated approach to nutrition based on the evolutionary argument. Here is its essence as I understand it:
We evolved eating in a certain way. The way we ate must have been optimal for our bodies at that time - based on the theory of evolution. Many things have happened since. Most of them good: we have nearly conquered disease, learned to cheat death in many circumstances. We can travel the globe and refrigerate our groceries. Yet, most of it has happened so fast! Let's take a look at the aspects of modern life that have the greatest impact on health and examine how we have changed our habits, isolating the good from the bad.
Paleo does not regect modern technology, nor modern lifestyle. It is not suspicious of progress. It simply uses a "debugging" tool to compare before and after and see if we can learn from the past.
